Happy New Year!!! You made it, yes you made it to a New Year and you made your way to my New Blog. There are thousands of Blogs out there, so I am honored that you choose to set aside a few minutes to read my Blog. I will tell you where the Blog came from in the next post but I wanted my first ever Blog to be about my Statement for the Year. As you may be aware, people usually start the year off with a Resolution, Goals, a Word or a Statement that will lead them in the upcoming year.
This is my first year to do a Statement for the Year, but I think 2020 need a Statement to guide me through it. My guiding statement is “Running with Joy.” If you know me at all, you know those words are considered to be an oxymoron coming out of my mouth. Running and Joy are words that don’t belong in the same sentence because they are clearly contradicting.
Now don’t get me wrong, I try to be a joyful person, and I love to workout but running is not working out to me, it is my definition of torture. I ran when I had to when I was in the military and working as a Patrolman. I even ran a 1/2 marathon and a few 5Ks, why you asked, because I wanted to torture myself.
So, when I was lead to have the statement “Running with Joy” as my Statement for the Year, you have to know that it was influenced not by me but by God.
A few days before the New Year, I was having coffee with a friend and he wanted to encourage me for the New Year. He said he had been praying for me, and when he saw me he saw the smile on my face and that I was full of joy. He said that it also looked like I was dancing when he saw me stretching, like I was getting ready for a run. He then referenced these two verses, Psalm 30:11 and Isaiah 40:31.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness.
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
In June 2019, my wife of 12 years moved out of our house and took our three kids with her. She felt that I did not love her the way she needed to be loved, and it hurt to be around me. She felt that she needed to be away from me so that she could heal. So, as you can see, 2019 was a rough year for me, so to hear that the Lord is going to turn my mourning into dancing, and that when I run I won’t get tired…those words got me excited about 2020. So, I was led to develop a Statement for the Year 2020. I am believing that I will be “Running with Joy.” Here are a few things I plan to run with in 2020:
• Letting God Restore my family
• Start a Blog called “Finding Wisdom”
• Release my book called, “Finding Wisdom: A Testimony of a Short-Term Missionary.”
• Become a Krav Maga Self-Defense Instructor
• Go on a few mission Trips
• Get back involved in ministry work
Those are just a few things that I plan to Run with Joy in, in the Year 2020. Please stay connected to this Blog, as I share what the Lord is doing in my life. I pray that this Blog encourages you to Find God’s Wisdom for your life.
